Just before the annoying western end of Arab Road (Davit Aghmashenebeli Avenue), you will find one of the coolest restro bars in Marjanishvili in a side street. The gastronomic establishment has already attracted attention in the French restaurant guide Gault et Millau in 2019. Beyond the culinary delights, the artistic staging of the venue is particularly spectacular. In this exciting Chveni review, we provide interesting impressions of the cuisine and offer you fascinating insights into this extraordinary location.

A playful and charming Restro Bar in Marjanishvili

Same like the famous and beautiful Linville on Kote Afkhazi Street, the equally pretty Lovation in Marjanishvili has nothing to hide – it also scores with an extraordinary interior design and an exciting culinary offer. There are no secrets in the open show kitchen and the BBQ in the centre of the location. According to my observations, The place is mostly frequented by locals – this review is therefore an exciting insider report that expats and tourists should not miss out on.

The culinary selection at Chveni Restaurant in Tbilisi

When you visit this Restro Bar, the hand-designed and unusual drinks and food menu of the Restro Bar immediately catches your eye. The QR code menus are a thing of the past here and are a real work of art. The food and drinks menu is really stylish and inviting. It reads like a newspaper. You start at the front with Georgian specialities or simply turn the menu over and read the Asian news.

In addition to the standard Georgian dishes, there are many specialities such as a beef tenderloin steak for 58 GEL, even snails and many other cool things. The eggplant dishes and the BBQ at the restaurant are particularly popular. For a group of more than three people, I recommend the vegan Pkhali Board (Seasonal) – with pumpkin, beetroot, spinach, nuts and eggplant as a cold starter. To upset vegans, it’s best with meat.

There is also a small but fine selection of sushi. The Unagi Philadelphia rolls with nori, rice, avocado, sesame, unagi, cream cheese and teriyaki for 40 GEL are a culinary masterpiece.

Wine, beer and cocktails at Chveni Bar Tbilisi

The German “LΓΆwenbrΓ€u” is available as a draft beer, and there are also several bottled beers and craft beers. The blonde Karva beer from the Natakhtari brewery in particular harmonises perfectly with the Asian specialities. We are in Georgia, so a proper wine list including amber wine is of course a must at this place. In addition to the typical international spirits, there are cocktails and ChaCha. I definitely recommend trying the homemade ChaCha, which is aged in oak barrels!

Great service and ambience @ Chveni

The management and crew at the venue are all Georgian and take great care of their guests. In the past, there were unfortunately language barriers, but now they also have staff who speak perfect English. The “Restro Bar Concept” provides separate areas for smokers and non-smokers. If you want to smoke a cigarette after your meal, this is the place for you! The perfect layout of the interior spares non-smokers, there is excellent ventilation – peaceful coexistence prevails here.

There is additional space on the upper floor if you want to celebrate a company event or a birthday in Tbilisi. If you are interested, simply call +995593767713 and clarify all the details.

A stylish and unique location

As far as the interior design is concerned, there are no limits to creativity. Banal objects such as old telephones from Soviet times, irons, birdcages, numerous paintings, typewriters and other crazy stuff have been used to decorate the place, and the concept is characterised by a feel-good atmosphere. The owners have succeeded in creating a unique atmosphere here that no one is guaranteed to be able to copy. So yes, dear Instagram victims, if you really want to show off, this is the place for you.

The seating options, including a Hollywood swing, are all extremely comfortable and invite you to stay a little longer. However, watch out for the location’s security, the cat! As sweet as she may seem, she’s a real beast – so only stroke her when you’re asked. Don’t worry, the well-groomed monster cat only observes, is cool and doesn’t disturb anyone’s meal.

Our honest Verdict on this unusual Location

This is a solid mid-range restaurant and bar in Marjanishvili, which scores points above all with its successful interior design. The prices are also good – it’s neither expensive nor cheap. Many of my international guests were pleasantly surprised by the ambience and particularly appreciated the cosiness of the location. Creative free spirits, wine lovers and all friends of good flavour will experience true joy here.
